Consulting Services for the Environmental Study and Detailed Engineering Design for the Establishment of Sanitary Landfill

The Sanitary Landfill Facility (SLF) Design and Build Project of Ridge to Reef Builders and Supply (R2R Construction) for the Municipality of Nabunturan has been through various stages.

During the pre-construction phase of the project, the SLF Detailed Engineering Design, ECC Application, and Geotechnical Assessment occur. Before the SLF construction, there is a need to determine the proposed site’s physical attributes to know if the area is conducive to SLF construction. Acquiring an environmental certificate is also essential to ensure that the proposed facility is environmentally compliant.

Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Report and Acquisition of corresponding Environmental Compliance and Certificate (ECC) for Isla Norte Energy Corporation (INEC)

The Isla norte Energy Corporation (INEC) Plant is located in  the central part of  the Philippines, part of the Island of Visayas. The Project is a proposed 23.311 MW Diesel Engine Power Plant in the Island of Bantayan, Province of Cebu. It is intended to supply the total electricity requirement of the Bantayan Isalnd Electric Cooperative Inc. (BANELCO). The Project will be operated by Isla Norte Energy Corporation with its joint venture corporation, Vivant Energy Corporation and Gigawatt Power Incorporated.

Ridge to Reef has undertaken the acquisition of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of INEC through facilitating the environmental requirements needed to be attached on the EIS. Once the EIS is approved, provision of the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) will be awarded to INEC, for them to push through with their proposed project.

Consultancy Services for the Conduct of Feasibility Study on the Clustering of Sanitary Landfill in Region XII

To assist the fulfillment of the said provisions amidst the financial barrier that hinders the LGUs from having an SLF, RA 9003 grants the clustering of the  LGUs. Notably, Section 43 states that:

To encourage and facilitate the development of local government plans for solid waste management, the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) shall publish guidelines for identifying those areas which have common SWM problems and are appropriate units for clustered SWM services.

With this, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of Region XII has brought into the conduct of Feasibility Study (FS) on the Clustering of Sanitary Landfill in Region XII as extending their efforts in giving opportunities to its provinces and its corresponding LGUs to have a clustered SLF, if feasible.

Ridge to Reef’s basic aim will be to assist the EMB Region XII to achieve success in the timely and cost-effective implementation of the Project. Close liaison will be maintained between our Team and EMB Region XII throughout the Project. We will work in support of the staff of the EMB Region XII and provide recommendations that are in the best interests of the Project. Our project implementation approach will be fulfilled through the deployment of a highly qualified and experienced Team, the application of strong teamwork, sensitivity to the needs EMB Region XII, access to the home office support and resources of Ridge to Reef, close attention to detail, and high commitment to professionalism

PROJECT DETAILS

Conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the preparation of the corresponding EIA Study Report for the project– Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO), Vivant Hydrocore Holdings, Inc

The proposed project is a Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant with a capacity of up to 50 MLD. The implementation will be in multiple phases and the first phase will be expected to deliver 20 MLD.

The proponent, Vivant Hydrocore Holdings, Inc., will undertake the planning, financing, development, design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the project with Watermatic Philippines Corporation as its technical partner.

Ridge to Reef has undertaken the acquisition of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of SWRO through facilitating the environmental requirements needed to be attached on the EIS. Consulting Service for the Feasibility Study (FS) for the Establishment of a Resource Recovery Facility (RRF) in Region VII

Ridge to Reef is currently providing a comprehensive basis for the establishment, development, promotion, implementation, and monitoring of resource recovery facility for Region 7, considering the technical, financial, socio-political, legal, and institutional factors. This also includes adopting appropriate technologies based on its contribution to achieving the waste diversion goal as indicated in the Philippine Investment Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, Ensuring Ecological Integrity, Clean and Healthy Environment. Specifically.

Preparation of Feasibility Study for Port and Jetty Construction in Darong, Davao del Sur

Ridge to Reef has provided technical service with San Miguel Corporation (SMC) through conducting a Feasibility Study on the proposed Port Facility Project of SMC in Barangay Darong, Municipality of Sta. Cruz.

 

The study will help SMC comply with the Foreshore Lease and miscellaneous application, as provided in DENR Administrative Order No. 99-34, the reference and guidance of all concerned regulatory agencies.

Therma South, Inc.- Ambient Water and Effluent Quality Analysis

The Ridge to Reef conducts a quarterly water sampling on the chosen water sampling stations both inside and outside the vicinity of Therma South, Inc. (TSI). The water sampling activity gathers four kinds of water samples—marine water, freshwater, groundwater, and effluent water.

This activity is to provide an aid to TSI in this activity since TSI has initiated to comply with the appropriate requirements of the DENR as part of its standardization to their Environmental Management Monitoring Plan (EMMoP) and in accordance to their Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) issued by the DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). Thus, the quarterly water sampling is conducted within and on the nearby TSI waters to assess in compliance with the standards defined by DENR Administrative Order No. 2016-08 or its Water Quality Guidelines

Health Impact Study in Brgy. Tibungco and Brgy. Ilang

Ridge to Reef specifically conducted the Health Impact Study (HIS) in Barangay Tibungco and Barangay Ilang for Holcim Philippines, Inc. This activity was to know the health status of the impact barangays of Holcim Philippines, Inc. to check what are the salient diseases and other health problems the communities are currently experiencing. Primarily, it also helps Holcim Philippines to know whether or not their company is causing adverse impacts on the community.

By knowing the host communities’ current health status, the company would know where they could specifically provide aid in terms of health conditions.

The Traffic Impact Assessment of Ridge to Reef with Holcim Philippines, Inc. was to provide a technical assessment of the traffic concerns and safety matters that may be relevant to the company. The activity’s fundamental purpose is to determine the impact on the safety and efficiency of the adjacent roads to the project.

Therma South, Inc.– Conduct of 2017 Environmental Audit, Health Study, and Employees Health Profiling

Every two years, Therma South, Inc. (TSI) undertakes Environmental Audit, Health Study, and Employee Health Profiling for their company’s operations, impact barangays, and employees, respectively. This activity is for TSI to record the trend of their company’s impact towards their surroundings– adjacent environment and people.

 

Through this, TSI has collaborated with Ridge to Reef to provide technical assistance by having in-house environmental planners facilitate the Environmental Audit and doctors to expedite the Health Studies and Profiling for the community and the employees of TSI.

Feasibility Study and Conceptual Design for the Provincial Integrated Sanitary Land Fill of Davao del Norte

The Feasibility Study (FS) and Conceptual Design for the Provincial Integrated Sanitary Land Fill of Davao del Norte undertaken by Ridge to Reef were composed of technical analysis for the recommended SLF sites, providing details on the LGU clustering, and proposed location of the facilities.

Further, Ridge to Reef has also included in the FS financial and economic analyses to determine the proposed facility’s viability and feasibility, which has included the identification of the financial and economic cost and benefits of the project as well as the determination of the resulting financial and economic indicators.

Engineering Geology and Geohazard Assessment at Municipality of Malungon

Ridge to Reef conducted the Geohazard Assessment that was done at the Municipality of Malungon because the assessment serves as a pre-requisite in implementing the municipality’s acquisition of Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) to be obtained from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), which includes various infrastructure projects such as facilities and development of waste cells.

Management Plan for the Sustainable Development of Mayo Bay, Mati City, Davao Oriental (Ridge-To-Reef Approach)

Ridge to Reef has administered a technical assistance for the City of Mati to create a proactive management that recognizes that sustainable management of Mayo Bay must be in place to guarantee availability of resources for the future generations and to prevent developmental regression.

The main objective of the Sustainable Development (SDP) for Mayo Bay is to ensure social equity and healthy environment while having a good economic output. The SDP served as a common guide towards the City’s developmental programs and proactive of good governance in congruence with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) otherwise known as Global Goals of the Philippines.

Therma South, Inc.—Site Assessment for the Proposed Ash Disposal Area

The Site Assessment of the Ash Disposal Area in Therma South, Inc. (TSI) was conducted by Ridge to Reef to have a detailed Engineering Geology and Geohazard Assessment (EGGA) of the proposed site to know further if the area is favorable for ash disposal. Also, with such an assessment, TSI would know the mitigating measures that the technical team of R2R would recommend to use the area once operating efficiently.

Facilitated the crafting of Integrated Coastal Resource Management Plan of Davao del Sur; and (2) Facilitated the Crafting of Environmental Code of Davao del Sur.

The Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Plan is prepared for engaging comprehensive programs, projects, as well as financial necessities, for the full and productive implementation and enforcement of the Plan. This  is composed of various sections and introduces the hard work of the drafting team, Ridge to Reef Environmental Consultancy, Inc., as well as the Province, fisherfolks, private companies, responsible government agencies, and stakeholders, that have participated on the entirety of the planning process.

Cecilia Stock Farms- Conducted (1) Retrofitting of wastewater treatment facility; and (2) Troubleshooting of Existing Waste Water Treatment Systems

Ridge to Reef has provided technical service for Cecilia Stock Farms through providing a comprehensive design for the Proponent’s Waste Water Treatment Facility and Waste Water Treatment Systems. This project is conducted to help Cecilia Stock Farms become compliant in managing its wastewater by achieving the standards of DENR in terms of effluent waters.
